****MARY****

They are all raving idiots, need their heads looked at, out there in all that snow, getting soaking wet, and then bringing it back here for me to clean up. Nope, not happening.

Walking back into the kitchen, I make a fresh pot of coffee, as I'm sure they'll all need something to warm them up. I also stir the vegetable soup I've made as an extra if anyone comes back in needing something fast.

I know the construction team will be coming in soon as Shades let me know the new brothers will eat, then decide if they'll camp out here or go back to the trailers they are temporarily living in.

The new brothers to the club have settled in well. They just seemed to slip into place, and with all the new work that needs doing, they have lots to keep them occupied. Adding stories to the clubhouse will be great, but we'll need more help with Rosa leaving. It only leaves me, Emma, and Saf. We're struggling to keep on top of everything.

Dollar walks into the kitchen. "How you doin', Mary?"

"I'm okay. Can you lift this soup pan to the hatch for me? They can help themselves that way." I state and turn to pick up the bowls for whoever wants to eat.

Opening the oven, I slide out the trays of fresh bread rolls, and Dollar places them onto a platter that he puts at the serving hatch.

I make myself a small bowl and butter a roll, then sit in the kitchen to eat. I'm a bit surprised when Dollar sits next to me with a bowl.

We eat in silence, not uncomfortable silence either, and listen to the laughter and comments about the soup smelling good as people come up and help themselves. Some shout thanks to me through the hatch, and when I note how many are having soup, I'm pleased I did another pot, or the construction team of eight would have gone hungry.

"Later, they are putting the tree up in the commons. Do you want to help?" Dollar asks.

"Oh, no, I have a couple of hours to do in the laundry, so no, but you enjoy yourself," I respond, smiling at him.

"Did you get your court finalized? I know you were due a decision on divorcing the kids. Did it go through?"

I am fiddling with my bowl and spoon, as I find this all a bit embarrassing. What mother divorces her kids, well, a mother who's sick and tired of them for various reasons. "Yes, it came through last week. So no husband and no children. If it weren't for the fact the judge heartily agreed with the way I've been treated, I would think I was the worst mother born."

"Hey, don't do that. They were at fault, not you. You've got all of us here, which gives you a family of assholes to look after and mother." Dollar laughs, and I must admit it makes me smirk as they all act like overgrown kids at times.
